Two Lancashire-based event industry professionals, John O’Hare and Becki Cross, have partnered to form a new mobile application business, Advanced Event Solutions.

Specifically focused on the event industry, the company is to launch its new Event App at a launch event on 13 June. The company says the app is compatible with both Apple and Android smartphones and tablets and is design to “support event organisers and improve attendee experience”.

The app is targeted at venues and event organisers. After registering for an event attendees are automatically invited to download the application to their mobile phone or mobile device, providing them with complete event information including detailed agenda and directions. The app is branded to the event host requirements and corporate colours.

Each attendee receives event announcements and twitter feed connection to streamline event communications. Optional functionality via the app includes voting capability to provide live event interactivity and post-event feedback. The app also offers barcode registration scanning for quick, paperless check in and footfall information.

A recent survey of 1,000 event industry professionals recently conducted by IT company Etherlive to determine the importance of technology in the events industry 88 per cent of respondents indicated that event technology was critical to the way that events were progressing.

Of those using an internet connected device, over half were using a smart phone which clearly underlines a growing reliance on fully integrated mobile phone and connectivity devices.
