International cloud-based Activity and Participant Management (APM) solutions specialist Active Network is reporting a year of business success for its clients, including a trade union reducing its meetings and events costs by a half and a hotel group posting a 57 per cent jump in revenues.

Active Network’s Business Solutions Group says clients using its event management technology for business events have been able to grow their businesses through better leads and intelligence.

“Despite the fact that events are such a huge part of an organisation’s spend, many companies do not have insight into the data necessary to maximise their investment because they’re relying on multiple point solutions to manage their events,” says JR Sherman, Senior Vice-President of Business Solutions at Active Network (pictured).

“Our Business Solutions Group offers organisations a single, comprehensive event management suite and as a result, many of our customers have the ability to achieve significant results.”

The company’s technology solutions include Conference, RegOnline, StarCite Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) and the StarCite Supplier Marketplace.

Client successes reported include year-on-year savings at Nestlé which also used the Active Network technology suites to move from managing 150 meetings to more than 500 meetings a year.

“StarCite technology has provided the backbone for us to automate and streamline our processes,” said Nancy Teresa, Procurement Manager for Travel and Event Planning at Nestlé. “With the centralised portal and data collection, we’re able to see our event spend as a category versus having to track it throughout various expense reports.”

The 2.1m-member Service Employees International Union (SEIU) which plans 200 annual events, including a 4,000-delegate convention for which meeting RSVPs were still being tracked in Excel spreadsheets, found the StarCite SMM solution provided automation and led to cost savings of 48 per cent.

Active Network’s long-term partner Loews Hotels used StarCite Supplier Marketplace to realise a 57 per cent increase in booked room revenue in 2012.

“One of our key challenges is securing the right types of corporate group business, and StarCite presents these opportunities to us,” said Anthony Del Gaudio, Senior Vice-President Sales Operations at Loews Hotels.
