ACC Liverpool has hosted its third ‘Event Legacy Workshop’, bringing together key stakeholders to explore how events can leave a lasting positive impact on the city.

Organisers with upcoming events at ACC Liverpool, including the International Association of Oral Oncology (IAOO), British Neuroscience Association (BNA), ELRIG, and British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), participated in the workshop.

They were joined by a network of local Legacy Champions, a group of experts from various sectors across Liverpool.

The session featured a panel discussion examining the Alzheimer’s Research UK conference held at ACC Liverpool earlier in 2024.

The panel included Emma Robson (Alzheimer’s Research UK), James Latham (The Iceberg), Adrian Evans (ACC Liverpool), and Jennifer Jensen (Jenny Jensen Ltd).

They explored the successful implementation of the event’s legacy project, highlighting actionable strategies for future events.

Charlie Silva, head of events and fundraising at the British Orthopaedic Association, said: “The discussions around Alzheimer’s Research UK’s case study provided valuable insights, and the opportunity to connect with local champions from relevant sectors was particularly helpful.”

Adrian Evans, director of Conference and Business Events at ACC Liverpool, said: “Our workshops provide a platform for collaboration between event organisers, local stakeholders, and our team to ensure that conferences not only benefit attendees but also leave a lasting positive footprint on the city. We’re excited to see what future collaborations will bring.”

ACC Liverpool launched its event legacy strategy in 2022 and has already facilitated impactful legacy projects with organisations such as Diabetes UK and now Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The venue has a comprehensive Legacy Toolkit containing case studies, resources and details on their Legacy Champions.
