Leeds-based Aberfield Communications’ has moved into events management, with the setting up of a new specialist division, Aberfield Events.

The new division has also won its first client: Leeds Mind, part of the mental health charity Mind. Aberfield Events will plan and organise the Leeds Mind annual Mindful Employer conference.

Leeds Mind is the region’s lead partner of the Mindful Employer national initiative, which promotes positive attitudes to mental health in the workplace.

Aberfield will support all aspects of the one-day conference, which will take place in June 2018.

The conference hopes to attract 150 employers, who will have access to practical advice workshops, expert speakers and case studies, helping them to further understand mental health in the workplace and better support their employees.

Chloë Matthbury, events specialist at Aberfield, says: “This is a fantastic first appointment for Aberfield’s event division. We can’t wait to get started and work with the Leeds Mind team to promote positive attitudes to mental health to employers.”

Hannah Patten, mindful employer coordinator at Leeds Mind, adds: “The 2018 conference has been made possible with funding from Leeds City Council and will be our biggest event of the year. It gives us the opportunity to connect with our employers and help them continue on their journey as a Mindful Employer. Having Aberfield on board means we can focus on the content of the event knowing that the logistics are sorted and the event will run to plan.”
