Aberdeen will host 500 delegates for the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists’ Annual Conference in 2015. The news follows a winning bid by the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) in conjunction with the Aberdeen Convention Bureau (ACB).
The conference, which will be linked with the American Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists, will be held in May 2015 over two days.
The Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland exists to further the clinical and research aspects of the specialty. The association has two meetings a year.
Local Conference Ambassador, Dr Graham Wilson from the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, helped secured the contract.
Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC, said: “We are delighted that the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists has confirmed that AECC Aberdeen will host their 2015 annual conference. We have a great line-up of conferences booked in the coming years and it is brilliant to be securing bookings now for such excellent scientific conferences.”
Future conference business booked in at AECC includes The European Optical Society Annual Symposium 2012; The World Heavy Oil Congress 2012; The Society of Core Analysts Symposium 2012 and CHRO2013.
Alesia du Plessis, Sales and Marketing Manager at Aberdeen Convention Bureau, said the latest win “reinforces the reputation Aberdeen has in areas such as medicine and life sciences. It is also a good example of how successful Aberdeen Convention Bureau’s Ambassador programme is, where we work closely with academics at the local universities to bring to the city conferences and seminars in their specialist field or sector”.
