More than 7,500 people (ABC audit pending) visited the 2012 Square Meal Venues and Events show, a predicted three per cent drop on the previous year’s figures.
The show, which ran on 19-20 September at Old Billingsgate, shortened its opening hours, in part due to traffic restrictions imposed by the City of London.
Last year, the event saw a double-digit visitor rise.
But despite the drop this year, the attendee figure is expected to be up seven per cent on the 2010 edition.
Organiser Square Meal said its seminar programme saw full houses throughout both days, including a keynote on the Olympic Legacy led by London Legacy Development Corporation Director of Events and Programming Clive Little.
“In a singular year for the industry when the Olympics, while wonderful and inspirational and a hugely positive advertisement for London and the UK’s event industry in general, were also an undoubted drain and distraction on time and budgets, I’m delighted we still able to corral a positive show for both visitors and exhibitors,” said Square Meal Venues and Events Show Director Graham Hill.
