A total of 26,500 trees will be planted at Wyboston Lakes Resort following the launch of its Room2Grow initiative.
Each time a staying guest decides not to have their room cleaned, a tree, shrub or hedgerow is planted on its 380-acre site. The initiative launched in June this year.
Steve Jones, managing director of Wyboston Lakes Resort, said: “The response has been phenomenal, many times greater than we expected. It’s marvellous that guests have been so willing to make this choice and take the chance to help us with our commitment to our philosophy of More Sustainable, No Apology.”
As part of a commitment to ensure that no food waste leaves the site, a new biodigester has also been acquired and installed, turning food waste into fresh compost for use across the site – including for tree planting.
