Over a quarter (27%) of UK organisers are expecting to decrease their event marketing budget in 2012, while only 10 per cent expect an increase, according to a new P&MM Events and Communications report.

However, almost 41 per cent of companies surveyed expect the number of delegates at their events will increase in 2012, while 16 per cent think numbers will go down. Forty-three per cent expect numbers to remain the same.

These and other insights can be found in the P&MM 2012 Metrics Report, to be published in the New Year.

The report will also reveal that, of the 22,000 event bookings managed by (P&MM parent) Motivcom in 2011, 85 per cent had less than 90-day lead time and 64 per cent had less than 30-day lead time. Two thousand, five hundred venue bookings were received with less than 24 hours notice in 2011.

Nigel Cooper, Managing Director of P&MM Events & Communications, said: “The expected increases and continuity in delegate numbers provide a positive endorsement for the effectiveness of face-to-face meetings even though budgets are ever more tightly controlled. Lead times will no doubt be counted in days and not weeks in 2012.
