Following UniSpace’s first push to the national and international market at International Confex this March, the venue has already won a number of important contracts both from home and overseas.

Situated in a coastal location, UniSpace Sunderland offers a unique and extensive variety of meetings and events spaces for 2,000 plus delegates. Part of the University of Sunderland, it also incorporates the iconic National Glass Centre, and has 2,000 beds on offer.

UniSpace has five event spaces including the City Campus, which offers four self-contained venues in and around urban green spaces, while the Sir Tom Cowie Campus, set on the banks of the River Wear, is comprised of six self-contained venues surrounding University Square. The CitySpace building can be tailored to suit the needs of a large variety of conferences, and has hosted a number of live BBC televised events.

The separate Industry Centre is tailored for smaller groups and meetings and is largely used for training activities.

UniSpace has a variety of open spaces, ranging from coastal fields and car parks to the purpose built amphitheatre in the Quad on City Campus. These areas have played host to events such as music festivals, teambuilding theme days, launches for the automotive industry and Sunderland’s first ever Military Tattoo.

In April the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (BPSA) utilised a number of the locations for its annual conference, creating an indoor beach party. This September, Sweden based Operation, Maintenance and Acoustics International Association will bring its two-day annual Maintenance Permance Measurement and Management event to the UK for the first time.

Sharon Olver, Commercial Manager at Unispace, said: “The features that make UniSpace stand out are the value added activities and incentives.”

With positive year-on-year growth through regional business initially and now national and international, UniSpace has quickly established itself firmly as a meetings and events venue.
