Stand Up Comedy Show in the City

"You are so brave!" is the most frequent comment I received when I told everyone I was doing Stand Up Comedy for Charity. In reality, I am blessed (cursed) with having no fear and an unfortunate sense of invincibility.

“You are so brave!” is the most frequent comment I received when I told everyone I was doing Stand Up Comedy for Charity. In reality, I am blessed (cursed) with having no fear and an unfortunate sense of invincibility.

So, it was armed with these misconceptions that I roared onto the stage recently, in front of hundreds of City people, with Bon Jovi’s ’Livin’ on a Prayer’ blasting through the PA system.

My unscripted opening line “I’m a bit of  twat” was met with raucous laughter (amazingly!) and I was off… Having gone for an ambitious (and fairly lengthy) series of anecdotes (almost all true stories) I was true to form and meandered all over the place covering subjects from my days as the lead singer of Dazed & Confuzed (a band that Bon Jovi’s Manager said he would have to “pass on”) to my Bond style watch (which reveals some shocking and controversial facts) and even a joke about ’clubbing’ one’s wife!

In hindsight, that last joke was a potentially fatal and ham-fisted gag, especially as my chosen charity was the wonderful ‘Womankind Worldwide’.

But, somehow, it worked. Phew!

So, if you’d like to see what happened – you can watch the video here:
