For the past 40 years, Moving Venue has solidified its reputation as London’s most experienced caterer, setting benchmarks in quality, creativity and service. Founded in 1984, the company embarked on a journey to revolutionise the catering industry and today it stands as a testament to innovation, culinary excellence and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction.

Moving Venue began with a simple yet ambitious goal: to transform the way people experience catered events. Its founder, Richard Beggs, recognised a gap in the market for high-end, bespoke catering solutions that went beyond standard offerings. The company quickly gained traction, building a clientele that included corporate giants, high-profile individuals and prestigious institutions; notably, Moving Venue was the first ever caterer to deliver a commercial event at the Natural History Museum over 30 years ago.

Restless ambition has always been at the heart of Moving Venue, which is demonstrated by an ability to evolve with market and catering trends. The company has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible in event catering. By employing industry leading chefs and culinary experts, Moving Venue has been able to craft menus that are not only diverse and imaginative but tailored to the unique tastes and preferences of each client using the most seasonal and sustainable produce.

In its mission to set the standard for excellence in catering, Moving Venue has grown a portfolio and retained accreditations at venues including HM Tower of London, Guildhall, Natural History Museum and the Science Museum for over 20 years. From royal celebrations and high-profile corporate functions to grand weddings and exclusive private parties, the company has catered to some of the most memorable occasions in the UK. A transformative moment for the business was in 2015 when the caterer was acquired by Smart Group. Within three years the team tripled turnover and their ability to adapt to different themes, scales, and client needs has been a key factor in their enduring success.

With four decades catering at London’s iconic venues and leading hospitality events, Moving Venue is committed to using its position of trust and leadership to shape the future of the events industry. This is evident with the launch of the Moving Venue Catering Academy, which aims to equip aspiring event professionals with the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience they need to excel. Launching in September 2024 and running for six months, the inaugural Academy will consist of six modules covering venue event catering, sales and marketing, planning, operations, provenance and product, and kitchen and menu development. The course will culminate in a Spring/Summer menu showcase, where mentees will collaborate with their mentors and peers in an event to celebrate the completion of the course, demonstrating their acquired skills and highlighting the food that will be served at events throughout the season.

MD Chloe Jackson, comments: “Reflecting on the past 40 years, we are immensely proud of our journey. Our success is a testament to the dedication, innovation and passion of our incredible team. We’ve consistently striven to exceed our clients’ expectations, and it’s this commitment to excellence that has cemented our position as industry leaders. Here’s to the next 40 years.”
