The Britain for Events campaign has created two new member groups as part of a programme to develop the campaign as it builds up to the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group Inquiry (APPGI) report, and forward into 2014.
The two support groups, the Advisory Council and Steering Group, are designed to strengthen the effectiveness of the campaign and they meet in London today (3 December), as part of their twice a year scheduled meeting programme. The Advisory Council will consider the campaign’s objectives and determine priorities for the annual programme, while the Steering Group has been tasked with ensuring its effective implementation.
Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) Chariman Michael Hirst (pictured), who will be chairing the inaugural meetings, said: “This is a crucial time in determining favourable policies towards the industry. Events offer a superior way of communicating important messages and deliver unrivalled experiences as well as being the most effective way of promoting goods and services the UK has to offer. Establishing a Steering Group and Advisory Council is another step towards further enhancing the campaigns profile.”
Today’s meetings come ahead of the first ever APPG Inquiry into the international competitiveness of the UK events industry, for which Britain for Events acted as secretariat. Due to report its findings on 16 December in London, the event will herald the unveiling of recommendations to government, following the APPG Inquiry in the summer.
