The Literary Review will stage its 21st Bad Sex Award at The In & Out club in London’s St James’ this evening (3 December).
The award is for the most embarrassing passage of sexual description in a novel.
The ‘winner’ will be revealed before an invited audience of 400 luminaries of the literary world.
The eight named and shamed on the shortlist are:
- My Education by Susan Choi
- The Last Banquet by Jonathan Grimwood
- House of Earth by Woody Guthrie
- Motherland by William Nicholson
- The Victoria System by Eric Reinhardt
- The World Was All Before Them by Matthew Reynolds
- The City of Devi by Manil Suri
- Secrecy by Rupert Thomson.
Last year the prize was won by Nancy Huston for Infrared, published by Atlantic Books.
Venue caterer ITA’s Sales Director Kate McIntosh (pictured) described catering for the event as “an honour”.
