VisitYork4Meetings will host its second annual York-in-London showcase, York Minster to Westminster 2014, on 5 March 2014.

VisitYork4Meetings, the business tourism arm of Visit York, expects 20 York venues to exhibit at the event which will take place at the Houses of Parliament and The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster. Attendees will include pre-qualified organisers from the meetings, incentive, conference and events industries, as well as conference booking agents. VisitYork4Meetings will also be working with Visit England to attract international buyers.

“Promoting York as a great business destination to a national and international audience is a key part of VisitYork4Meetings’ business tourism strategy,” says Marketing Manager for VisitYork4Meetings, Laura Freer. “We know that buyers don’t always have the time to visit York and that’s why we are taking York to them and following the success of the first York Minster to Westminster event and the feedback we received from event buyers, we are keen to host a similar event in 2014.

“Next year’s York Minster to Westminster is in the same successful format, offering delegates both a one-to-one appointment with York venues with free time to maximise networking opportunities,” she adds.

The 2014 event will again receive cross-party support from York MPs, with Hugh Bayley (Labour) and Julian Sturdy (Conservative) MP sponsoring the event in the Houses.

VisitYork4Meetings says last year’s showcase was a huge success, with the organisation securing the Liberal Democrats Spring Conference in 2014. It is the first time in the party’s history that it has held its annual conference in York, and it is expected that 1,400 delegates will be in the city for the three-day event, generating £600,000 for the economy.
