Central London events venue, Somerset House, has seen a “significant increase” in event business from PR agencies, which made up 32 per cent of the 192 events the venue delivered between October 2012 and October 2013.

The number of experiential events booked by the PR sector (18% of those PR-booked events) in this period also increased, with the majority coming from clients in the fashion, wine and culture sectors.

The venue’s Edmond J. Sa Fountain Court has proven a popular space for experiential events; recent functions taking place in the courtyard include Nike’s FlyKnit Experience, and the London launch of the If campaign, where Somerset House’s exterior was used for a projection mapping show.

“We are pleased about the growing demand from the PR industry, as we have worked hard to gain exposure and attract clients within this market; London Fashion Week in particular has definitely contributed in raising our profile in the fashion sector,” says Head of Events at Somerset House, Emma Barrow. “With the consistent growth in our visitor figures, we are expecting experiential events to become increasingly vital to our events business.”
