The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers’ (ABPCO) recent TechNOphobia event attracted 35 attendees including representatives from ACC Liverpool, Cvent, Encompass Events, The Brighton Centre, Manchester Central, Identilam and The British Psychological Society.
The latest in the series of TechNOphobia events focused on supporting event management through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). The advanced technology, which is becoming more common in events to track delegate movement, enables devices to capture data on tags and transmit it to a computer system, without the need for physical contact.
The event was facilitated by Martin Jack, MD of Think Different Events, while speakers included: Clemi Hardie, MD of Noodle Live, and Greg Parmley, Chief Information Officer at Intellitix, who discussed the competitive advantages of RFID including reducing queues, limiting cash transactions and providing enhanced interaction through social media streams and email.
“The aim of the TechNOphobia workshops is to give professional conference organisers an overview of how some of the latest technologies can be successfully deployed across the events sector,” said Jack. “By focusing on RFID, we wanted to show that through its use, delegates can seamlessly become advocates for the events they are attending and help promote future events.”
