The first day of IMEX America’s 170-session education programme started with an MPI keynote on creating agility and adaptability in turbulent times by Eileen McDargh, CEO of Resilient Spirit.

McDargh received a rare meetings industry standing ovation for her talk entitled ’Staying right-side up in a world that’s upside down’.

The Executive Meetings Forum (for C-suite corporate meetings executives) and Women’s Leadership forums both got underway.

Sessions came in a variety of formats including the Networking Hub, Tech Hub, Sustainability Hub, IMEX-CIC Inspiration Center and the App Bar.

Jessica Levin, President at Seven Degrees, said the number one success factor for social media was “to make it a commitment and have someone watch for consistency of message and image. They need to ensure they integrate with more traditional forms of marketing and communication”.

Trevor Roald, Mobile Event Technology Evangelist at QuickMobile, talked about the monetisation of show apps, including tapping into the sponsorship offerings provided by splash pages, video and more.
