Korea Tourism Organisation held a gala dinner and workshop
at London’s Park Lane hotel for 150 MICE buyers and industry
stakeholders as part of its 2013 MICE Roadshow (1 October). The event
was sponsored by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Asiana Airlines.
the buyers in attendance were agency heavyweights
such as Association CIRM, W&O Events, WRG, Mulitlaw, BSI, Congrex,
Dynamyk Events, Oliver Myles, Creative Travel & Event Management,
Avenue Events, Pasteur and Sanofi as well as associations such as Select
Biosciences, Ales UK (the association of amusement
and leisure equipment suppliers of the UK) and the Energy Industries
Council.
Representatives
from Korea Tourism Organisation as well
as Deajeon International Marketing Enterprise, H&T DMC, Holiday
Planners Co., Jane Tour & Travel, Kim’s Travel Service, Sarah Korea
Co.,US Tour & Travel were also in attendance to discuss Korea’s
MICE potential.
In a price draw one guest won a trip to Seoul and stay at
the W-Hotel, courtesy of Asiana Airlines and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Korea Tourism Organisation is targeting MICE Planners
and buyers with specific emphasis on the association market to Korea for
conference, meeting and event news,” said the Marketing Manager for the
London office of the Korea Tourism Organisation, Michael A. Michael, on
the night. “The London office of the Korea
Tourism Organisation has been given greater responsibility within the
UK, Ireland and Scandinavian markets to really push Korea as destination
that can provide the complete package for any MICE requirement however
big or small and our record supports this.
“The Korea Convention Bureau has worked vigorously to attract
the major associations in recent years and this has paid dividends with the 15th
International Congress of IRPA (International Radiation Protection Association) with 1000 attendees, the 30th
CINP Biennial World Congress 2016 (International College of
Nueropsychopharmacology) 6,000 attendees and the Royal Institute of
Naval Architects (International Conference on Computer Applications in
Shipbuilding) all selecting Korea as their preferred conference
destination in 2012 and already in 2013 three more major congresses
including the ‘2017 International Conference on Neutron Scattering’ with
1000 attendees,” he added.
