The International Centre, Telford has signed a three-year deal with The British Cheerleading Association (BCA) to hold its national championships at the venue from 2014-2016.
The event has been held at the venue for the past seven years, and takes place during the Easter break.
“We host an extensive number of competition events in the UK every year, and the annual national championship is the pinnacle of our annual calendar,” says Derek Kent from the BCA. “Telford is the perfect location for this event – it’s easy to get to and once there, every facility we need is catered for.”
Tom Gray, Chief Executive of the Southwater Event Group, which owns The International Centre, added: “We are delighted the BCA has confirmed its national championship event for the next three years. The Association has been a loyal client for a number of years and we appreciate its commitment to The International Centre and to Telford as a whole.
“The first phase of the new Southwater Square convention quarter will also be opening ahead of the championships next year creating a direct link between our venue and the Telford Shopping Centre,” he said.
The championships at Telford take up three adjacent ground floor halls, as well as refreshments and merchandising areas.
