The Holiday Inn London – Camden Lock celebrated its 10th Birthday with a fund-raising street party event last night (12 September) in aid of the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The hotel has recently undergone a £1m makeover and GM Tasneem Buitendijk highlighted the recent launch of the IHG Academy, an initiative which aims to help local people improve their ability to find employment within the hotel industry.

To support the initiative, she said, Holiday Inn London – Camden Lock would be teaming up with local charities The Winch and Castlehaven Community Association, both of which work to support local people develop their skills.

Guests were able to see the hotel’s new ‘open lobby’, lounge area and business centre.

“This hotel has played an important part of life in Camden for the past 10 years and it’s good to give back by raising funds for The Amy Winehouse Foundation,” Buitendijk said. “We are also donating the fee for every 10th delegate for meetings taken in September.”

Over 150 guests were entertained at the hotel’s Glasshouse, a space boasting floor to ceiling windows overlooking Regents Canal.

Special guests/VIP guests included the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Jonathan Simpson and Mitch Winehouse (pictured centre with hotel GM), founder of the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Amin Somani, MD of Innovations, won 1st prize in the raffle with a weekend at The Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa.
