Bournemouth Borough Council has announced that it will invest £1m to improve signage on all main routes to benefit the experience for conference delegates.

In a partnership with the tourism industry, the council plans to introduce a set of 154 on-street pedestrian and cycle signs on all routes leading into Bournemouth.

The signs will be integrated with taxi and coach connections, linking the station, the Triangle, the Square, the seont, Pier Approach (adjacent to the Bournemouth International Centre) and the Gardens.

The signage scheme aims to benefit delegates to make it easier to locate key attractions in the town centre, costal areas, parks, and to encourage them to explore all Bournemouth has to offer.

Peter Gunn, BH Live Chief Executive said: “Visitors, including conferences and exhibitions delegates, make a significant contribution to our local economy, therefore providing delegates with the highest quality visitor experience in Bournemouth is paramount.

“We are thrilled to be getting a new way-finding system in Bournemouth which will enhance our delegates’ experience.”

It is planned that in the future the scheme will lead to smart phone applications and website downloads being integrated into the way-finding system.
