The University of Reading has introduced the Celebrating Success scheme, as part of a commitment to its HR Strategy for recognising and rewarding achievement at the earliest possible opportunity.
The University appointed permance improvement agency AYMTM to design and implement an online reward and recognition portal to provide an immediate and tangible recognition for staff.
Managers are able to nominate members of staff for awards, which can be redeemed for vouchers from a range of retailers. Nominations are aligned to the University’s Values for Working Together and Professional Behaviours and awards can be made at any time throughout the year, subject to approval and budget availability.
The system allows managers to track their budget and the status of nominations and the portal has been designed to reduce HR administration and provides access to real-time reporting functionality.
“The Celebrating Success scheme has quickly become popular with staff and has become a useful and valuable addition to the University’s reward arrangements,” says Claire Eckett, HR Manager (Rewards & Benefits).
AYMTM Business Development Manager, Natasha Ryton (pictured), adds: “It’s been exciting to develop and implement a robust reward and recognition programme for the University of Reading, an approach more commonplace among major FTSE companies. What’s important is that all staff members, regardless of site location or role, can now be recognised for their permance via this programme.”
