The Racecourse Association (RCA) has named Goodwood Racecourse as Showcase Champion at the Showcase Awards 2012.
The Awards, held at York Racecourse on 22 November, celebrate innovation and excellence in improving the experience at Racecourses in Britain across a number of categories.
The independent judging panel commended the Sussex racecourse for its overall strategic approach to enhancing the customer experience, and the racecourse also scooped the individual Marketing Award for their August Bank Holiday Weekend promotion.
Winners at the Showcase Awards 2012:
- All about the horse – Aintree and York Racecourses
- Corporate Social Responsibility – Beverley Racecourse for its Racebus initiative
- Events – Beverley Racecourse for its Fashion Week
- Food and Beverage – Newbury Racecourse for its ’Creating a Premium Stand’
- Marketing – Goodwood Racecourse
- Operational Excellence – Doncaster Racecourse for its Winning Ways, Team and Service Development initiative
- Owners’ Experience – Ayr Racecourse
“I am delighted to see the breadth and depth of excellence and innovation on British racecourses,” says RCA Chairman, Ian Barlow. “The winners and finalists show how our racecourses are working hard in a competitive leisure and sport market to popularise the sport and sustain British Racing as the most varied and interesting racing.”
The Showcase Awards Dinner followed on from a daytime programme of seminars and idea sharing where racecourses were able to share best practice and good ideas in improving the raceday experience. Guest speakers included Jamie Aitchison of Channel 4 and Michael Caulfield of Sporting Edge.
