Over 30 specially invited organisers attended an event showcasing key Polish conference and events destinations and tapping into the expertise of local DMCs.

The event was held at Pestana Chelsea Bridge hotel, London, under the Poland Convention Bureau’s campaign branding: ‘Move your imagination’.

Aneta Ksiazek from the Poland Convention Bureau was introduced by Conference News Managing Editor Paul Colston who called Poland “a great value country destination for meetings and incentives in the heart of Europe”.

Ksiazek and her team held face-to-face meetings with the UK-based corporate and association planners and agency representatives. There were brief presentations from the bureaus of Warsaw, Katowice and Krakow.

Warsaw currently hosts 25,000 meetings a year, 68 a day, said Mateusz Czerwinski from the Warsaw Convention Bureau and he expected an upturn following on from the Polish Presidency of the EU, which generated many conferences in 2011 and the Euro 2012 tournament where 1.2m people had attended the fan zones.

Updates were shared on the events legacy of the Euro 2012 football tournament in Poland in the summer and on a range of potential itineraries, including meetings in a Salt Mine and new convention centre builds across the country, including the ICE centre in Krakow, due to open in 2014.

Planners and buyers interested in Poland are encouraged to apply for the last of 12 familiarisation trips to Poland in 2012, 6-9 December.

The Polish city bureaus also held a series of prize draws, with three lucky guests winning trips to Poland.
