Last night (13 November) Conference News partnered with event management software specialists Active Network for a round table on harnessing the power of event technology at 195 Piccadilly, the home of BAFTA.

The forum included 20 invited event industry professionals, including representatives from Emap, Universal WorldEvents, the Manufacturing Technologies Association, EventWorld and the Energy Institute.

The discussion involved event technology experts from Etherlive, The Hybrid Event Centre, RefTech and the Chairman of Eventia, Simon Hughes.

Topics of discussion included the latest advancements in event technology and there was keen debate on whether organisers have the right knowledge and expertise to use these advances to their full potential.

Other items covered included the use of hybrid events, key challenges in running an event no matter the size and how event technology can be used to add value and solve problems.

“It is great to have a wonderful selection from the industry here to share ideas around the theme of technology trends,” said Active Network’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Izania Downie. “The opportunity to co-create this forum with Conference News allows us to demonstrate thought leadership which is a core objective of Active Network.”

Active Network’s Peter Donnelly also presented his company’s overview of key issues to be aware of when harnessing events technology, as well as a suite of solutions, including integrated new-generation registration and booking systems designed to work in a holistic way and at a variety of levels.
