Telford International Centre has confirmed its first client for a new 10-acre outdoor space connected to its exhibition halls.
The
open plan area is part of the 170-hectare Telford Town Park and has
been assigned for use for events at the venue. Site owner Southwater
Event Group said the Mobility Roadshow will be the first customer to use the space for its 30th anniversary show next June.
Southwater Chief Executive Tom Gray said having the outdoor arena available added
to Telford’s events flexibility. Over the past 18 months, the venue has
added 1,300sqm of additional indoor space through its new Ludlow Suite.
“To
add 10 acres of outdoor event space is great news as it opens up
incredible opportunities when combined with our venue’s impressive
facilities,” he claimed.
A new entrance has also been created
linking the venue to the 10-acre arena, which will make it easily
accessible for organisers and visitors, Gray added.
The Telford International Centre site and surrounds are currently the subject of a £250m regeneration scheme
between Southwater Event Group and Telford and Wrekin Council tocreate a
conference and entertainment quarter in the Midlands town.
Over the next 18 months, several elements will be added including an 11-screen cinema, restaurants, bars and a new hotel.
