Didier Scaillet, Chief Development Officer of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), has had his consultancy contract terminated by the international industry association, effective 31 January 2013.

Brad Bebell, MPI Director of Marketing, told CN: “MPI and MPI Foundation mutually decided to end Didier’s consultant contracts with both organisations effective January 31, 2013. “Didier has made many positive contributions to MPI in a variety of roles across 17 years and remains a valued member of the MPI community. He will continue to work closely with us as he transitions out of his current role.”

Scaillet joined MPI in 2000 and said he expects to remain in the industry.

There have been rumours that MPI’s Luxembourg office could be closed in a drive to cut costs in Europe.

MPI Chapters have also been seeking more autonomy and a bigger share of resource.

Scaillet has been instrumental in pushing forward studies on the economic impact of the industry and has overseen the establishment of MPI’s first chapters in Asia and Latin America. Since Bruce Macmillan quit as President and CEO in June 2012, MPI has been led by Acting CEO Cindy D’Aoust, supported by Junior Tauvaa, Senior VP of Strategic Sponsorships.
