The venue-finding arm of Worcestershire-based agency Top Banana is supporting this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal, having secured all the overnight accommodation for a 40-strong team taking part in The One Show’s 411-mile, eight-day rickshaw challenge from Llandudno to London.
Working through event management company Across the Divide, who are organising the rickshaw ride, Top Banana Venues booked the rooms “at a heavily discounted rate”, according to Across the Divide’s Mark Hannrd, for ‘Team Rickshaw’ in each of the eight locations.
The challenge starts in North Wales wending its way through Dolgellau, Lampeter, Swansea, Cardiff, Bath, Salisbury and Reading, before the final leg to White City.
Top Banana Venues’ Helen Silvester said: “Although it’s what we do day in and day out, knowing that it’s helping to support such a great cause means it’s been a really rewarding project to work on. We’re grateful to Paul Collin from Across the Divide for asking us to work on the project.”
Last year nearly seven million people watched One Show Presenter Matt Baker complete his gruelling rickshaw ride from Edinburgh to London. This year the challenge is turned on its head as six young people will take on the challenge to help raise vital funds for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
‘Team Rickshaw’ will be made up of six youngsters, all of whom have been either supported by or still are supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects.
