The Møller Centre at Churchill College in Cambridge was the venue last week for ‘Danish Innovation in Business’, an event opened by Denmark’s Ambassador to the UK, Her Excellency Anne Hedensted Steffensen.
Speakers from Carl Hansen & Søn and PP Møbler gave talks on how their businesses have innovated and grown over the years in the production of high quality furniture.
The day was an opportunity for the Danish business community to come together under one roof and Christine Hartshorne, Marketing Manager of The Møller Centre, told CN that 50 delegates had attended the event and that she hoped to build on the potential meetings revenue stream from Denmark “given the venue’s interesting Danish history”.
The Møller Centre was designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen and opened 20 years ago by Queen Ingrid of Denmark.
“Having so many Danish businesses attending this special day and networking together has been truly inspirational,” Hartshorne added. “The day showcased some of the best innovative designs and ideas from Denmark. We were delighted that so many people came and sponsored this event, as we appreciated that many delegates have travelled a long way to be in Cambridge.
“The Møller Centre gave a flavour of what it can offer Danish businesses to support their growth ambitions within a unique and vibrant community.”
The Møller Centre claims to be the only dedicated, residential executive training and conference centre in Cambridge. Hartshorne said that a focus on premium service and product had helped the Centre find business during the recession. She added the centre was actively recruiting new staff.
