So what’s more important for the MICE Sales Manager? Street cred or tweet cred and which will get you more business.

You
could spend one hour pounding the streets, visiting clients and
checking which other companies are in their building for the next time
you’re in the area. Or you can spend an hour glued to your smartphone,
tablet, laptop or PC giving the world the benefit of your knowledge in
less than 140 characters.

There is no doubt that both approaches have their merit.

For those sales managers aid of London traffic or who suffer from a fear of flying, then Twitter certainly serves a useful purpose.

But
for those professionals who show passion for their product,
determination to get the business, offer the best deals, and will bust a
gut to close the deal, then nothing can replace the personal touch of
getting out there, and reminding the world that the old adage of ’people
buying people’ is still as true in this industry as it has always been.

Job done, now all we have to do is remind the agents and clients to open their doors when they see us coming.
