VisitBrighton Convention Bureau team hosted its ‘Unconventional’ familiarisation visit for conference and meetings organisers recently.
Over 50 buyers attended the event designed to show off the city’s best meeting venues and give them a flavour of the city’s leisure and cultural offering.
Guests included representatives from Oracle UK, the Acupuncture Council, Institute of Highway Engineers, British Arts Festivals Association, the British Retail Consortium and the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language.
The weekend started at the Royal Pavilion where guests enjoyed a drinks and canapés reception in the Great Kitchen followed by a dining experience in the Banqueting Room. The Prince Regent was on hand to welcome guests to his party palace and his impromptu singing and historic anecdotes gave an authentic addition to the evening’s entertainment.
Attendees stayed at a range of the city’s premier hotels and were given the opportunity to have bespoke tours of their chosen venues the next day. Attractions included the Brighton Dome offering free tickets for the ‘Best of the Fest’, complimentary tickets to see Brighton & Hove Albion play at the AMEX Community Stadium, a cocktail master class at the Seattle and a hardhat tour of the multi-million pound developments at the Grand.
Julia Gallagher, VisitBrighton Convention Bureau Manager, says: “The weekend was a great success and we hope we gave our guests a real feel for what Brighton has to offer conference delegates. We’ve made some good contacts and are optimistic that the event will have put Brighton firmly in people’s minds as a top conference destination and bring in future business for the city.”
