Venuemasters, a consortium representing 90 academic venues, is moving its Academic Venue Show from the Emirates Stadium to the ILEC Conference Centre in West London for 2013. The event will take place on 22 May 2013.

The move to what owners claim is London’s largest three-star venue was due to the expansion of the exhibition, and because of its central location, according to the organiser. The ILEC Conference Centre, located in the Earls Court area, has an open plan exhibition space, enabling all elements of the show to be on one level.

The 2012 Academic Venue Show saw a 15 per cent increase in visitor numbers, and Venuemasters say over 45 stands for 2013 were sold in two weeks. New venues at the show next year include Homerton Conference Centre, Buckinghamshire New University, Senate House and the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.

“We’re delighted with the huge interest for the 2013 Show from exhibitors,” says Marketing Manager at Venuemasters, Jo Mitchell. “The 2012 event was a great success for us and we are looking to build on that next year. The show continuously develops and this time is no different.

“The biggest progression for 2013 is the move to a new venue which was encouraged by the fast expansion of the exhibition plus we wanted to be more central for visitors and exhibitors alike,” Mitchell adds.

Preparations for the Show are already in full swing with 85 per cent of stands already sold. In addition to the selection of meeting and accommodation facilities, the show features a seminar programme including an inspirational guest speaker and engaging workshop for meeting and travel industry professionals to network, and conduct business.

New developments for 2013 include the recently launched interactive website which has a fresh new look and design. The new site offers information including the exhibition programme, interactive map showing the new location and accessibility information, as well as visitor testimonials from previous years. Visitors will also be able to pre-book appointments with exhibitors via the booking system on the website.
