The Big Bang Fair 2012, an annual event celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths and which showcases careers options to students, has won the Charity and Social Enterprise Best Live Event and Best Experiential Campaign categories at the Institute of Visual Communication Association’s annual Clarion Awards. The awards celebrate achievements and high standards in corporate and public sector communication.

The show took place this year at the NEC, Birmingham in March and attracted 56,000 visitors. It was produced by agency Grass Roots Live and attracted representatives from 800 schools, and was delivered by over 170 organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Charles Moyle, Managing Director of Grass Roots Live, says: “It’s always a thrill to get recognised in this way and it gives us a great boost as we begin to plan for next year’s show. The client is a delight to work with and I have to commend them on the thoroughness with which they evaluate the event’s impact.”

Key show metrics picked out by the judges included a doubling of visitor numbers on the previous year.

Post-show research also revealed 95.9 per cent of attendees rated The Fair as ‘good’ or ‘very good’.

Big Bang 2013 will take place in March at Excel London.
