Agency Venues Event Management has gone green with its bespoke ’Eclipse Online Delegate Management System’, providing a totally paperless, planet-friendly system.
As part of the new system delegates register online and receive all communication from the organising office electronically, including maps, directions and final joining instructions. For those delegates unable to access a PC, Venue Events Management offer a a fax back system or a registration using recycled paper.
Venues Event Management are working towards gaining the BS 8901 Event Sustainability for Sustainable Development. This standard identifies the requirement of a management system to improve the sustainability of events.
“When proposing ideas to clients, Venues Event Management like to put forward a ’sustainable option’,” says its Chief Executive, Anita Lowe. “Working with suppliers and hotel groups in the industry we aim to find the sustainable option for our clients, from simple things such as recycling and reducing carbon emission to caterers and using recycled goods such as notepads and pens.
“If a client wants a sustainable event and requires a ’green venue,’ Venues Event Management will, in addition to using its own ’Eclipse green rating’, refer to the Green Tourism Business Scheme for venues that have registered,” Lowe says.
Martin Pickering, Marketing Communication Manager for MAN Truck and Bus UK, adds: “We have worked frequently with Venues Event Management and our relationship allows our brief, to use environmentally-friendly venues, to be easily obtainable. We recently ran an incentive trip to Malta where everything was paperless and even the photos at the end were provided to the guests electronically.”
