Earls Court exhibition centre saw more than a third of its annual visitor numbers in two weeks over the Olympic Games, according to new figures.
Between 28 July and 12 August the venue welcomed half a million visitors when it hosted the Olympic Volleyball tournament. A total 76 matches were plated across 42 sessions in front of a crowd of 12,000 sporting enthusiasts.
The 500,000 visitors represented more than 35 per cent of Earls Court’s average annual attendance.
Group Halls Director at EC&O Venues, Rachel Parker, said: “The 16-day Olympic volleyball competition has been several years in the planning and Earls Court has been delighted to contribute to what has been the greatest Olympic Games of our generation.
“The logistics involved in hosting such a momentous event on the world stage has required meticulous planning and partnership with the London 2012 team.”
