The Britain for Events campaign will promote events in the community to policy makers and civic leaders at the House of Commons on 5 September 2012 during the Britain For Events: Events in the Community briefing.
The event will see top event professionals look to gain further political support for the industry by highlighting the economic, cultural and social impact of local events.
“We’re looking to emphasise the important role events play in the local economy,” says Chairman of the Business Visits and Events Partnership and Campaign Spokesperson, Michael Hirst (pictured). “At a time when local authority budgets are under such pressure, events can make a real difference. They shape a destination’s identity, contribute to community well-being and create commercial activities for local businesses.
“The Olympic Torch Relay provides an example of how events can excite and energise a local community. Festivals and outdoor events do likewise Business conferences, both small and large. Bring extra spend to the local economy. We need to make leading representative of local communities more aware of these benefits and opportunities,” adds Hirst.
The Britain for Events: Event in the Community briefing will be hosted by Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, Nick de Bois MP.
