Strategic outsourcing and energy services company MITIE has announced it has acquired a 51 per cent stake in London-based Creativevents, a company providing hospitality, fine dining, conference and banqueting and‘pop-up’ catering services to a broad range of clients in the events market.

Clients include Earls Court and Olympia, Excel London, Brooklands Motor Museum, the National Army Museum and the Chelsea Flower Show.

Established 15 years ago by two brothers, Adrian and Ian Willson (pictured), with funding from the Prince’s Trust, Creativevents has twice been listed in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 companies. MIITE is a FTSE 250 support services business, with 65,000 staff and revenues of £2bn.

Allister Richards, Managing Director for MITIE’s Catering business, predicts a strong future for the new partnership.

“There is huge synergy between the two companies,” he says. “Creativevents has a superb reputation for offering creative and flexible solutions at the premium end of the event catering market. When you look at the combined talent and credentials of our two teams and the broader skills set of MITIE as a whole, we will offer an unbeatable proposition to the market.”

Adrian Willson described the sale of a controlling stake in the company as “an exciting move” enabling the company to secure new growth.

“We were won over by the amazing entrepreneurial ethos at MITIE,” he adds.

“With MITIE’s backing we will have the same resources as all of the bigger players and I am confident that we are well poised to grow our business further.”
