Casa Italia comes to The QEIICC, IAAF moves into The British Library

As all eyes turn today to the official opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster says ’Buon Giorno’, as it opens its doors to the Italian National Olympic Committee.

As all eyes turn today to the official opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster says ’Buon Giorno’, as it opens its doors to the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
 
The QEIICC has become the Olympic House, ‘Casa Italia’, for the duration of the Olympics, offering four floors of Italian entertainment daily free of charge to the public. The ground, first, second and fifth floors of the Centre  will be open to the public from 12-8pm, until 12 August 2012.
 
The ground floor auditorium hosted a Casa Italia opening event on the 26 July and live events will figure most days from 12-1pm.
   
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Olympic Games offices at The British Library were officially inaugurated yesterday (26 July) at a flag-raising ceremony at the British Library Piazza in London.

IAAF President Lamine Diack joined the Director of Finance and Corporate Services at The British Library for the ceremony. IAAF General Secretary Essar Gabriel, the IAAF Director of the President’s Office Cheikh Thiare, and other members of the IAAF staff, also joined the ceremony.

Athletics competition at the Olympic Games begins on 3 August and concludes on 12 August. The traditional IAAF Dinner on the eve of the competitions takes place at The Guildhall on 2 August. The IAAF Council will meet on 31 July at the Pullman London St Pancras Hotel with a press conference to follow which will be held at the IAAF Offices in the British Library Annex.
