The Association of Event Venues (AEV) is releasing an updated version of the eGuide, an online resource for the events, meetings and exhibition industry, next month.

The eGuide, established to help association members create consistent standards for individuals and companies working onsite at adopting venues, is a collaborative document created by using regular updates from AEV members, ensuring it remains reflective of changes in the UK’s event industry.

The new July 2012 edition will have updates to more than 25 sections including the final version of the new electrics rules developed by the Event Suppliers and Services Association/AEV/Association of Event Organisers technical committee over the last two years.

The technical committee meets on a regular basis between biannual meetings of the AEV’s strategic committee, focusing on the eGuide’s consistency and accuracy in addition to the strategic group’s broader work on contentious issues, planning, development and promotion.

“Members created this new structure to balance demand for involvement with the integrity and consistency of the core text, and are confident that it will contribute to a clearer, and where possible, more concise document in the future,” said AEV Technical Adviser, Lee Holloway.

The AEV confirmed the eGuide will be officially adopted by 12 venues across the UK including ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) and Harrogate International Centre (HIC).

“This is a good step forward and updating the eGuide will be an easier job in the future,” added Group Head of Health and Safety at Earls Court and Olympia Venues, Michael Anderson.
