Maudslay Court, a sustainably built and managed Cotswold building, has been nominated for the Best Commercial Building award in the West of England Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Awards, just six months after it opened.

The 32-bedroom courtyard, part of the Cotswold Conference Centre (CCC), is located on the 320-acre Farncombe Estate between Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon and increases the capacity for business delegates who meet for conferences, training and teambuilding.

The venue cost £3.5m to build and was designed with a host of renewable energy features and a monitoring system to track eco-efficiency. Eight bedrooms are certified allergy-free.

“The building was named in honour of Dam Busters hero Henry Maudslay, whose family lived on the Farncombe Estate during World War II, and we are proud of both the historical link and the quality of the venue,” says Operations Manager of CCC, Richard Howdle. “To be short-listed in a category as competitive as the Best Commercial Building is fantastic,” he added.

The awards ceremony is being held on 21 June at the Bristol Marriott Hotel.
