The Oysters, a collection of 20 UK offices of international tourist boards and convention bureaus, has signed an exclusive marketing partnership with the 2013 inaugural The Meetings Show UK, the show’s organiser claims.

The Meetings Show UK is organised by Centaur Exhibitions and will launch at London’s Olympia. When news of the show’s launch was first broken by CN on 6 March, organiser Centaur was projecting 1,000 hosted buyers in July 2013. Now Centaur has upped its game and says exhibitors can expect to benefit from 13,500 scheduled appointments from 1,500 qualified hosted buyers.

The partnership will see the two organisations working together on mutually beneficial business development activity within the UK throughout the coming year.

“We see the partnership as an effective way for us to reach senior buyers,” Senior Manager MICE UK and Ireland at the Malta Tourism Authority, Marie Anne Barthet Brown, said. “The UK needs a fully hosted show and we are thrilled to be supporting this initiative. We are excited by the prospect of working closely with The Meetings Show UK team for our mutual benefit.”

As part of the marketing partnership, The Meetings Show UK will be the main sponsor of The Oysters Summer Party being held on 5 July 2012 at One Marylebone, London; The Oyster Networking Event 2012 being held on 18 October 2012 in Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa, Manchester; and The Oysters Association luncheon taking place on 21 November 2012 in London (venue TBC).

“Both our organisations are focused on attracting and helping the UK meeting, incentive and conference buyer, so the synergy was obvious to both us and their members,” Exhibition Director for The Meetings Show UK, Steve Knight, said. “The Oysters represent over 20 of the most popular overseas destinations and the partnership reflects our philosophy of supporting our exhibitors and partners on a year round basis.”

The Oysters also exhibit at International Confex at Excel London. Event Manager James Samuel told CN: “We will once again be working with the Oysters for our next show in 2013.”
