The Deck, the National Theatre’s rooftop event space, transformed into a 1950s seaside pleasure pier (31st May 2012), marking the start of the UK’s celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

For one night only, guests could enjoy all the fun of the fair, including candyfloss, traditional games, a fortune teller, seaside treats and the odd seagull flying overhead! Fish and chips were of course on the menu as well as a seod bar offering a diverse selection of oysters and great British classics such as sausage and mash. Guests also had the chance to win a two-night stay at boutique hotel Blanch House, Brighton, in one of the two feature rooms – The Galaxy or The Legacia – if they uploaded photos of themselves at the event onto The Deck’s Facebook page.
