The UK Chapter for the International Special Events Society (ISES) hosted, 29 May, an event simultaneously in London and Birmingham. Event professionals were able to link up at the same time via the first use of a simultaneous linked events (SIMVENT) programme.

Video links from the lead event at The NEC in Birmingham (ISES’s second regional event in Birmingham), connected with a gathering of London-based event professionals at Westminster-based events venue Altitude 360 and also with a member of the ISES Chapter in Vancouver.

Altogether, 45 event professionals attended the event, which heard Eileen Bistrisky, representing ISES in Canada, explain how ISES members can leverage and gain knowledge from the international connections to support their business.

The Birmingham event was hosted by ISES UK President ,Jonathan Byrne, and saw MadsionSoho, a venue and destination marketing agency, talk about the power of social media in emphasising the importance of a focused strategy; developing the right tone of voice for your audience, preparing for potential crisis and calls to action, for example, Facebook Offers.

Simultaneously in London, Jane Hague, ISES UK VP Communications introduced Peter Kerwood, Marketing Director at Altitude 360, who expanded on how to amplify events via social media. He talked about using new tools including Pinterest, which generates more traffic than Twitter, Linked In and Google+.

“We recognise that creative activity is at the heart of experiential marketing and so we were really pleased to host this event for ISES,” said The NEC’s Stephen Richards.
