Events venue One Wimpole Street has been re-accredited with the silver award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) for its efforts in environmental and sustainable working practices, including ’innovative’ recycling and development of responsible tourism practices.

Highlights from One Wimpole Street’s reassessment by GTBS, the national sustainable tourism certification for the UK, included the use of coffee grounds for composting and the implementation of QR codes to reduce paperwork when marketing services, products and special offers. A tightening of energy controls such as new burners to ensure efficient combustion has also been implemented by the venue.

“We take sustainability and environmental issues very seriously and are delighted that our ’thinking green’ efforts have been recognised by GTBS, as more event organisers are looking for venues with proven sustainable working practices,” says Operations Manager at One Wimpole Street, Nigel Collett.

“Responsible tourism is something that event organisers have to consider in line with every aspect of an event and it is important to us that we can offer them a venue which fits their requirements.”
