ACC Liverpool will host a series of UK Stroke Forums for three consecutive years from 2015.
The conferences are estimated to generate £8m for the city economy, with each conference expected to attract up to 1,600 delegates.
“There were many positive factors that led to us choosing Liverpool as the destination to hold the UK Stroke Forum for three consecutive years from 2015,” says Project Manager at The Stroke Association, Verity Baker. “We were particularly impressed with the city’s connectivity to major UK cities and its scope for international travel.”
The UK Stroke Forum brings together healthcare professionals from a coalition of 32 organisations with the aim of improving stroke care in the UK, and the annual conference is the largest multidisciplinary stroke conference in the UK.
“We are pleased to welcome The Stroke Association for its annual three-day UK Stroke Forum,” says Director of Sales at ACC Liverpool, Kerrin MacPhie. “We received positive feedback from the client about our destination, venue and plans for the new exhibition centre which will allow the forum to expand in the future.”
In related news, Liverpool is currently bidding to host the World Stroke Congress due to be held in 2016. ACC Liverpool and Liverpool Convention Bureau are supporting the bid which will be decided next year and would see up to 3,000 international delegates attend generating £6.6m for the local economy.
