Propeller Mobile, the mobile division of communications agency Propeller Group, has launched a ‘customisable app’ for event and exhibition organisers called Event Engine.
The new mobile product allows organisers to engage with event stakeholders via their iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Windows Mobile and Blackberry devices.
The first event using the Event Engine is The Specialist Media Show, taking place at ThinkTank, Birmingham. Users attending the one-day show on 24 May can download the app from either the iTunes or Google Play online stores.
Propeller claims a key feature is the platform’s ability to provide a personalised experience via the ‘Event Genius’ feature. The app suggests event sessions to attend and exhibitors to visit according to a user’s stated areas of interest. Users can also check an up-to-date list of ‘trending’ sessions and plan accordingly.
In addition, users can to tap into their online professional and social networks by authorising access to LinkedIn and Facebook. They can also see which contacts are planning to attend which sessions and send messages, as well as follow tweets using an event’s Twitter hashtag.
“Conferences and exhibitions are highly productive for business people, but often seem full of missed opportunities,” said MD of the Specialist Media Show Carolyn Morgan. “The app takes the risk out of events for visitors: They can see what’s on and who’s going to be there and duly interact, connect and plan their day.”
Propeller Mobile provides a content management system as part of its service along with all branding and design work and IT support.
