Liverpool’s Sea Odyssey, which took place in the city from 20-22 April 2012, saw a 30ft little girl, her 50ft uncle and her pet dog make their way through Liverpool. Sea Odyssey, created by French street theatre company Royal De Luxe, was inspired by a letter a 10-year-old girl posted in 1912 to her father, a bedroom steward on the Titanic.

The event drew in an estimated 600,000 of people to Liverpool and is expected to generate 12m for the city, making it the largest public event ever held in Liverpool.

The Giant Spectacular project, which Black and Ginger started working on in November 2011 matched the big elements of the event, covering all media and application, ranging from above the line print campaigns and a digital strategy covering website design, app creation and social media marketing.

Black and Ginger also worked closely with Liverpool neighbours’ Apposing to design and develop the app for the event. Statistics reveal that the Giant Spectacular app proved to be extremely successful receiving over 10,000 downloads over the weekend, elevating it to one of iTunes top 10 entertainment apps.
