Following the CEO of De Vere Venues’ announcement on CN, the Director of Conference Aston in Birmingham, has expressed her enthusiasm at the upcoming franchise partnership.

CN reported, 9 March, that the conference venue group De Vere Venues is set to launch its first meetings and training venue franchise at Birmingham-based hotel and conferencing centre at Aston University, Conference Aston.

Talking to CN at International Confex, De Vere Venue’s CEO Tony Dangerfield said the venue will be renamed De Vere Venue Aston Conferences Birmingham. He said this announcement is part of the group’s “ongoing growth strategy”.

Conference Aston’s Director Fiona Foster says that while Conference Aston will continue to operate and manage the conference venues in Birmingham, she is delighted that De Vere Venues’ views us in the same way as its own wholly-operated and owned venues.

She says Conference Aston had instigated the initial conversations with De Vere Venues back in September 2011 and since facilitated negotiations between the Conference Aston senior management team and De Vere management.

“Conference Aston has a strong brand identity in the meetings and events market and has enjoyed great success over the past 25 years; combining our existing brand strength with that of a major international player, such as De Vere Venues, will take us to a new level and allow us to increase our profile both regionally and nationally as Birmingham’s reputation continues to prosper as a leading event destination,” she tells CN. “I expect the partnership to be finalised in April 2012 and as Tony has already said, it is a win/win for both parties.”

Future capital investment in Conference Aston will continue to enhance the modern, contemporary facilities that we currently offer and compatible elements of the De Vere Venues brand will be incorporated in designs for both the hotel and conference centre facilities.”

A formal launch is expected later this Spring, however, negotiations are still on-going.
