The new £26m Salford City Stadium has officially opened with a permance from X-Factor finalist Amelia Lily.

More than 600 hospitality guests and over 5,000 fans joined Amelia Lily and a host of soap stars to celebrate the launch of the new venue.

Pam Martin, Stadium Manager said: “The launch of the new stadium comes at a very exciting time for Salford and will go down as a day to remember.

“We’re confident that, with our accessibility and range of conference and events facilities on offer, we can deliver business solutions to national, regional and local customers.”

The new stadium boasts a conference and event facility for up to 1,000 delegates with views over the pitch and the Manchester skyline.

The stadium’s 1,200sqm of open space has the flexibility to be divided into three suites, while the 280sqm of external space has scope for marquee events and outdoor activities.

With the completion of the first phase of MediaCityUK and the co-location of both the BBC and ITV at The Quays, Salford is a city that is rising to prominence both regionally and nationally.

The stadium is owned by a joint venture between Salford City Council and The Peel Group
