The Mexican Paralympic Committee has confirmed it will prepare for the 2012 Paralympics in Swansea.

The announcement follows the decision by the New Zealand Paralympic Committee that its athletes will also train at Swansea University.

The Welsh University is building a reputation as a national centre for sporting excellence. Facilities at Swansea’s Sports Village include sports hall, gym, fitness studios, outdoor pitches, all weather pitches courts, indoor track and Wales National 50m pool.

Just a short walk from the Sports Village and you find yourself on the main university campus where there are in excess of 1,200 beds, catering and meeting facilities.

The environment is surrounded by parkland overlooking the sweep of Swansea Bay.

Nanele Lewis, Conference Services Manager, said: “We look forward to developing our relationships with the teams and maintaining links which will go beyond the games. We hope that the teams will also take time to see the beauty of the area and exchange cultural as well as sporting experiences.”

The University has also launched Margam Meeting Rooms, a suite of flat-floor rooms seating up to 80classroom style, 104 cabaret style and 130 theatre style. The package is targeted at organisers working to a budget and the University has some special offers valid until the end of June 2012.
